Scheduled Maintenance

dialup.mit.edu server maintenance Jan 28, 2026 17:00 - Jan 30, 2026 00:00 EST

Scheduled - The Athena dialup.mit.edu servers will be taken out of service and rebooted, in two groups, in order to receive software and security updates.
Most users will not need to take any action, but users with persistent sessions will need to be mindful of the following schedule and migrate their session accordingly:

Wednesday evening, January 28:
- all-night-tool
- barber-pole
- castle-on-a-cloud
- hack-to-the-future

Thursday evening, January 29:
- csail-squared
- hackapult
- senior-house-tombstone
- snowhenge

MITnet: Backbone Router Reboot Jan 28, 2026 19:00-21:00 EST

IS&T will be re-routing network traffic to reload one of the line-cards on the active backbone router to clear an issue. Some connections that traverse the campus firewalls may need to be re-established, but otherwise no outages are expected due to network/router redundancy.

Buildings WW15, NW98, NE36, OC25: Network - Switch Configuration Retrofit Jan 29, 2026 19:00-23:00 EST

The network (wired, Wi-Fi, VoIP) will be temporarily and briefly unavailable while switches are retrofitted to a new configuration standard.

Scheduled - The Spectrum Protect server w92-tsm-libmgr-2 will undergo maintenance. If all goes well, the work will take around 2 hours. During the outage IS&T will upgrade the Spectrum Protect server software.
Please note that during the upgrade, restore operations on any Spectrum Protect server may hang or fail. This work will not affect other Spectrum Protect servers, or desktop backups made via Crashplan.

Scheduled - The SAP production environment will be unavailable on Saturday, January 24 2026, between 01:30AM and 06:00AM. During this service outage, high priority security patches will be applied to the operating systems of the SAP production servers. Please note that, while this work is taking place, SAP, B2P, Facilities/Work-Manager and Inventory-Manager functionality, GAP, MIT Warehouse SAP data, along with all Atlas SAP activity (including time sheet entry/approval, training, requisitioning, journal vouchers, credit card verification, events planning, and service requests) will be unavailable.

Scheduled - Kuali Coeus (KC) System and MyCOI-OPA+ will offline beginning 9pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, for maintenance in preparation of the new MFTRP certification process. The work will be completed in 2 hours, with KC and MyCOI-OPA+ available just after 11pm.
